Johnson to have wrist surgery

Yesterday, the Yankees announced that designated hitter Nick Johnson, who has been on the DL for a few weeks already will have surgery on his injured right wrist.  The team was hoping that a cortisone shot would help alleviate the pain he was experiencing and allow Johnson to return sooner.  Unfortunately with the surgery, Johnson will now be back in mid-July at the earliest, and early August at the latest, according to manager Joe Girardi
"From the time of the surgery, it's four to six weeks before he can even pick up a bat," Girardi said before Monday night's Yankees-Red Sox game at Yankee Stadium. "And you're talking about a substantial time after that. So this is not a quick fix. It's going to take awhile."

How's NOT signing Johnny Damon looking now Brian Cashman?
